Safety Officer
As part of our regional growth plans, we are currently looking for an experienced Safety Engineer
The Health and Safety Officer will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification of BTEC or equivalent in Occupational Safety or health related field and 10 years experience with 5 being with a health base background.
The Health and Safety Officer will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group.
Requirements
He must possess excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems. He is expected to monitor safety procedures, determine cause of unsafe condition through procedure review, equipment and facilities inspection, and worker observation with corrective action recommendations provided. He is also expected to review and oversee procedures for investigating construction accidents. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills are essential.
The Safety Officer will:
• Report to the Senior Atkins HSE Manager.
• Liaise with the site staff and ensure that high standards of safety and safety documentation are maintained across all works.
• Ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner and the site is maintained in a clean and tidy state and that the public is not jeopardized.
• Review the contractor’s safety plan and monitor compliance with the plan.
• Ensure that the safety of the office environment is catered for; plans developed, risk analyses conducted and documented.
• Assist in auditing all sites that relate to Atkins
Material Inspector
Role Profile:
Inspector Materials will be responsible for monitoring of the contractor’s site in accordance with the contract and maintaining standards of delivery including quality, health and safety in accordance with QCS 2010 and Atkins Quality Systems. The Inspector Materials will be responsible for interface with the contractor and work closely with other members of the site supervision team to ensure the site operates efficiently and effectively.
Requirements:
The Inspector Materials will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification of a Technical Diploma or equivalent with more than five years experience with three years being similar to this project/role. Local experience is required. The Inspector (Materials) must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcing such specifications. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.
The Inspector Materials will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group.
The Inspector (Materials) will:
• Report to the Senior Materials Engineer
• Keep daily records
• Carry out daily inspections of the works and sign off the relevant part of the contractor’s RFI’s in a timely manner.
• Raise any non conformances or poor workmanship with the Senior Materials Engineer in a timely manner
• Raise any safety issues with the Safety officer, keeping the Senior Materials Engineer informed.
• Inspection, sampling and testing of materials to assure compliance with the contract specifications.
Material Engineer

Requirements:
The Materials Engineer will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification BSc, BEng, have more than ten years experience with seven being similar to this project/role, regional experience is preferred
The Materials Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group,.
The Materials Engineer will: -
• Report to the Senior Material Engineer and the Resident Engineer.
• Be responsible for the quality assurance procedures and the materials inspection and testing procedures.
• Ensure that there are no delays in the approvals and commissioning of the asphalt and concrete plants and that the contractor applies in sufficient time for the renewal permits.
• Review and approve the contractor's quality plans.
• Review and approve the contractor's materials submissions.
• Identify non conforming work and/or materials, maintain records and follow up that corrective action is taken by the contractor and close out each issue.
• Start to prepare the necessary document for the final handover of the project early so that this can be updated as the project progresses
• Review all materials test results
• Prepare reports
Senior Planning Engineer
As part of our regional growth plans, we are currently looking for an experienced Planning Engineer.
Requirements:
• You will be a recognised expert with a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role
• You will have considerable planning experience showing clear career progression in the planning field through working either client side or for a consultancy
• Successful applicants will have experience of working on high value, high rise and other building projects
• Proficiency in the use of Primavera (P3/P5/P6) and MS Project is also essential
Strong verbal and written communication skills is essential
Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation and management of overview and strategic programmes, including design, procurement and construction schedules together with supporting information required schedules
• Coordinate and manage the preparation and development of target construction and procurement schedules together with associated information required schedules
• Establish and agree project reporting procedures, prepare and present monthly project progress
• Review the schedules and related documents from the contractor including monthly reports and analyse the content to ensure compliance with project objectives
• Review schedule trends to identify problem areas and recommend corrective action to management. Monitor actual progress against planned progress
• Monitor engineering design progress, material and equipment procurement and construction and commissioning status
• Prepare progress monitoring tools for the management and monitoring of the above mentioned schedules. Monitor progress both on and off site. Identify deviations (progress trends) in both construction and procurement progress and suggest possible courses of corrective action
• Working closely with the Planning Manager and Project Team to ensure that the ‘contract programme’ is feasible, complies with the Project Master Plan and contractual documents
• Interface on a daily basis with the main contractor sub contractors and internal management.
• Carry out studies into scheduling, manning and material flow as needed
• Attend offsite meetings as requested by the client
• Review schedules for slippage of key dates
• Assist in the defence / approval of any claim for time extension or major change to the schedule
• Other duties as requested from time to time
• Ensuring that each Scheduling Engineer runs his or her section to the highest professional standards, that all information is current, and that every member of the team is receiving the information he or she needs to fulfil their responsibilities.

• Participate with the project management team, as directed by the Project Director, to achieve project deliverables.

• Understanding of British, American and International design standards. Working knowledge of ICAO standards would be a distinct benefit.

Responsibilities:

• Inspection, sampling and testing of materials to assure that compliance with the contract specification.

• Assist in the review and forward any comments on the contractor’s technical submittals.

• Carry out the final inspection for certification of final completion and handing over of the works.
• Assist in the review and forward comments on the technical Query raised by the contractor.
• Inspect the work done by the contractor(s) to ascertain that work is executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and accepted practise
• Inspect the on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and organise field and laboratory tests, conducted by others, on construction materials to ascertain their compliance with the specifications and determine it acceptability for use on the project.
• Identify potential safety concerns and inform the contractor (s).
• Review the site progress and assist in the review of the contractor’s interim payment application.
• Liaise with the RE for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision provision activities.
• Implement the site supervision quality procedures, and review submission requirements of the project, along with the contractor.
• Review all construction documents and highlight any design and contractual discrepancies with the concerned RE.
• Ensure that all statutory authority NOC’s / permits / design approvals are available on site for construction.
• Extend the maximum possible effort to avoid contractor(s) claims for cost and/or delay.
• Conduct regular (daily) site visits and supervise, verify the installation of civil /

Utility Coordinator
Requirements
A relevant technical qualification (degree) is essential.
Minimum seven (7) years relevant experience in major highway and infrastructure projects. Familiarity with utilities, drainage and electro-mechanical works.
The individual must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcing such specifications.
Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.
Principle Acitivities:
The Utility Coordinator will:
• Keep daily records of all utilities work
• Carry out daily inspections of all utility work and sign off the relevant part of the contractor’s RFI’s in a timely manner.
• Raise any non conformances or poor workmanship with the Utilities Coordinator in a timely manner.
• Raise any safety issues with the Safety Officer and also keep the Utilities Coordinator informed.
Structural Engineer/Inspectors - Bridges
The Structural Inspector will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification of a Technical Diploma or equivalent with more than 5 years experience with at least 3 years being in a similar project/role.
Local experience is required.
The Structural Inspector must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcing such specifications. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.
The Structural Inspector will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group.
The Structural Inspector will:
· Report to the Resident Engineer - Structures
· Keep daily records
· Carry out daily inspections of the works and sign off the relevant part of the contractor’s RFI’s in a timely manner.

· Raise any safety issues with the Safety officer, keeping the Resident Engineer (Structures) informed.
Resident Engineer
Requirements
The Resident Engineer will be a qualified professional who has reached Manager level. (it is likely that the person fulfilling this role will have had or is ready to take on the management of a major framework contract), capable of providing planning, leadership, direction and technical expertise to manage complex tasks and multidisciplinary projects. You must have a minimum qualification BSc, BEng, BA and more than 20 years experience with 5 being similar to this project/role.
The Resident Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group,.
• An experienced Resident Engineer with a demonstrable track record in the delivery of large multi functional projects specifically within a Highways and Transportation background
• Experience of operating within major highways frameworks would be a distinct advantage.
• Knowledge of project controls procedures.
• A “rounded profile”, comfortable with planning, analysis and managing process and commercial considerations. The successful candidate will also be able to mobilise people and teams and drive for a successful delivery.
• Effective in building good working relationships within complex structures both within projects, with clients and internally
Principle Activities
• Managing a multi functional team responsible for delivering a large number of varied infrastructure projects in accordance with the client’s requirements.
• Managing key stakeholder interfaces which will include all departments within the client organisation as well as contractors.
