Experience: 5 to 10 yrs.
SUMMARY:
1. Responsible for all Manufacturing operations across the business as well as Manufacturing
2. Support functions: Engineering, Planning, Procurement and Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
2. Initiative plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
3. Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers expectations.
4. Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports strategic initiatives.
5. Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for
problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
6. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
7. Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes. Schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies.
8. Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
9. Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
10. Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
11. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
12. Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production management concepts.
 
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience and knowledge base on the following manufacturing and converting lines will be an added bonus:
  • Cotton Wool manufacturing
  • Sanitary Towels/Feminine Hygiene manufacturing
  • Toilet Paper converting
  • Tissue Products (serviettes, facial tissue, pocket tissue etc.) converting
2. Demonstrated ability to commission new production projects from sourcing of machinery to set-up and implementation

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum 2.1 (upper 2nd Class) Honours degree; business or technical field.
2. 5 plus years of experience in managing high production environment. 10 years experience in FMCG manufacturing.
3. Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
