Position: Deputy General Manager- Retail, Africa 
    Reporting to: VP, Retail-Africa
    Required experience: 10-15 years (variable)

    Industry: Travel retail. 
    Added advantage if prior experience in High street retail
    Airport - Seaport Retail experience ESSENTIAL 
    Responsibilities: 
    1. As the Deputy General Manager, you shall be completely responsible for all aspects of the Airport, DDF & PX shop operations in Africa, other than South Africa and Ghana.
    2. To ensure that the budgets are achieved by all the DDF & PX locations, other than South Africa and Ghana.
    3. Ensure that all the local purchases are done based on the DPAR policy, and maintain minimum stock holding at location and see that locations turnaround the stocks as per policy. 
    4. To ensure that we maximize the credit facilities from local vendors at the location, and cash flow management is optimum in case of local supplies.
    5. Forecast and maintain monthly purchase budgets for all locations under your purview, and ensure adherence to the same.
    6. To ensure that all the locations, under your purview adheres to the Operations Manual and the Visual Merchandising guidelines of the organization.
    7. To ensure that the internal and external branding at all the shops under your purview, are as per the laid down standards of the organization. 
    8. Promotion planning and regular monitoring of the same to derive the impact at location.
    9. To review the orders from the locations under your purview and ensure that the top 100 SKUs at the said locations are always maintained at 95% and above.
    10. To authorize the POs and the GRs entered into the system, and ensure the authenticity of the same.
    11. To ensure that the stock holding at the location is optimum, as per the SCM Policy, and maintain quality stocks at the location.
    12. To plan economical elimination of slow moving/dead stocks at the location, with required approvals.
    13. To control stock turnaround to maximize cash flow at the locations, under your purview.
    14. Ensure that all the locations under your purview are compliant with the ORGAR Policy, in regards with the receiving to GR to Selling processes.
    15. Ensure that the PSTAR (Perpetual Stock take) policy is adhered to by all the locations under your purview, and stock reconciliations effected with due approvals for the locations.
    16. Ensure that the locations under your purview are in sync with the Compliance policies of the organization and there are no deviations or exceptions in the same.
    17. To ensure that all the locations under your purview are in sync with the local Customs and Revenue Authorities, or any other Government agency regulations (as may be specific to the location/country), the same is critically monitored and there are no deviations in the same.
    18. To ensure that all the locations under your purview, are maintaining the Customs Bond books, as per the Customs regulations. Ensure that all the Customs processes of Bond ins and Bond outs are efficiently managed at locations.
    19. Ensure that Optimum Bond Value is available at the locations under your purview, so that there are no issues with receiving stocks at the locations for want of a Bond Value.
    20. To ensure that a periodical review of the prices at the locations are done with regional and local prices. Ensure corrective measures are taken with due approvals to optimize the pricing.
    21. Monthly Review Meetings to be held with all locations under your purview to ensure that locations are adhering to the business requirements and are in sync with the budgets for the month.
    22. Conduct interviews for managerial positions in coordination with HR.
    23. Ensure that all location level recruitments of Operations personnel are approved and authorized by you.
    24. To see to it that the Induction program for the new joiners and the training schedules as and when necessary for new joiners/locations are affected and reviewed.
    25. Conduct staff appraisals/reviews periodically.
    26. Day to day staff issues to be handled as and when escalated/required.
    27. Highlight the training needs for the locations/personnel to the HR department, and ensure that due training is provided to the team.
    28. Prepare a critical list for all locations under your purview and maintain a tracker, on a fortnightly basis.
    29. Prepare monthly performance reports for your format to be presented to the Senior Management.
    30. Come up with Innovations to generate excitement to customers within your format, and in turn improve on revenue generation and EBITDA delivery at the locations.
    31. Visit international vendors as may be required for the business improvement to understand market trends regionally and globally and adapt accordingly.
    32. Work closely with the Business Development team to look out for opportunities within your region, and plug in for preparation tender/feasibilities (revenues and GP levels) of the business potential for the identified opportunity.
