Job description / Competencies
Set up and commission tower cranes.
Trouble-shooting on tower cranes
Perform routine and preventive maintenance.
Test mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, systems and equipment after repair or
modification to ensure proper performance and compliance with factory specifications.
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
Operate and inspect tower cranes in order to diagnose problems.
Dismantle and reassemble tower cranes using hoists and hand tools.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings,
including preparing for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
Overhaul and test tower cranes and equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
Diagnose problems and calibrate systems using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor
analyzers, chassis charts and pressure gauges.
Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
Promotes a safe work environment by ensuring established safety procedures and applicable safety
regulations are followed.
Attend and successfully pass training sessions and re-certifications.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical control systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Ability to use electrical test equipment and other equipment required for troubleshooting and diagnostic
testing.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to read and speak the English language.
