Job purpose & Scope:
Direct and supervise the activities of the Petrophysics matters, which includes: ensuring provision of unique advice and consultancy service in petrophysics and in well log Analysis and evaluation in particular. Ensure the maintenance of a high standard of log quality and the implementation of cost-effective optimum logging operation and evolution program. Evaluate all the petrophysical data available and advises on quantitative reservoir characteristics.

Principal Accountabilities:
a.) Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel regarding petrophysics matters, allocates assignments and determines priorities.
b.) Prepares the companys logging standards, procedures and requirements and monitors expenditure. Ensures accuracy and initials service companies bills/invoice.
c.) Coordinates, supervises and personally participates in establishing basic parameters and criteria for cost effective log interpretation of each field, reservoir and formation to optimize coring, testing and completion programs. Ensures accuracy of such parameters for use in further studies.
d.) Monitors implementation of open-hole logs. Supervises the logging interpretation and formation evaluation of exploration, appraisals, development and workover wells with service companies to determine the potential zones for testing and completion.
e.) Ensures that all request for special core and fluid analyses are justified and that highest
f.) Supervises and participates in the development of logging interpretation program, and monitor the maintenance of the petrophysical computer interpretation systems and database.
g.) Supervises/conducts detailed log analysis and petrophysical studies.
h.) Supervises and participates in Reservoir Studies and Technical meeting to assist in solving problems confronting the development plans. Participates in the presentation of petrophysical models of different reservoirs. Determine accurate reservoir parameters to be used in the reservoir simulation studies.
i.) Endorse, evaluate and monitor the capability and performance of contracted logging companies. Studies and assesses their logging techniques and related aspects such as logistics, training programs and costs.
j.) Performs other related duties such as monitoring the companys well logging standards, attending meetings, writing, writing technical reports, ensuring developing/training companys personnel on using/applying petrophysical data, keeping abreast wit the new development in logging tehcniques/devices, evaluating/assessing service companies performance,etc.
k.) Operate and perform within leading and supporting ZADCOs safety and environmental protection policy.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
Frequent contacts with Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineers and Operation and Reservoir Geologists at equivalent levels to discuss, monitor and advises on logging operation and interpretation problems.
Frequent contacts with Service Companies (upto equivalent level or higher) resolving all matters related to logging requirements, performance and cost.
Contacts with equivalent level personal in Computer Services, production Operations, Drilling, Petroleum Engineering and Reservoir Engineering with other operating companies or shareholders to discuss and review petrophysical matters.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority:
Determines own work methods and objectives in accordance with professional standards, established policies and companies procedures and guidelines.
Refers major problems to the Head of Geology. Completed work is subject to general review and approval by the Head.

Physical Effort:
Regular office work.

Work Environment:
Normally air-conditioned environment.

Minimum Requirements:
a.) B.Sc. Geology.
b.) 10 years of broad experience in well site, petroleum geology, sub-surface geology, well logging techniques, and petrophysics interpretation and computer usage.
c.) Good knowledge of English.

Mechanical Technician


Experience: 5 to 8 yrs.


  • Receives instructions and obtains specified materials, spare parts and tools.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Mechanical Technician inspects, maintains, repairs and overhauls a variety of heavy plant and equipment in accordance with company standards, codes and practices.
  • Dismantles, repairs or replaces various types of equipment and reassembles either on site or in the workshop. Carries out appropriated final tests under supervision.
  • Submits a technical report on each item of equipment repaired for maintenance history records.
  • Receives, identifies, and sorts incoming spare parts, components and consumable. Prepares, tags and ships out-going mechanical maintenance freight as required.
  • Carries out vibration surveys for predictive maintenance. Includes collecting data using vibration analyzer, and submitting print-out to his supervisor for further analysis.
  • Ensures all maintenance activities are conducted within company standing instructions and procedures and good oil industry practice.
  • Ensures good housekeeping on the job site and maintains all tools and equipment in good order.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required
  • Completion of Secondary (Technical) education (12 years) followed by 2 years full time formal training in mechanical trades.
  • 5 years experience in mechanical maintenance work in oil or petrochemical industry.

Electrical Technician


Experience: 5 to 8 yrs.

Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Job purpose & Scope: 
Coordinates on technical issues in his discipline within UZ Site and with relevant functional support groups in Head Quarters. Provides inputs, relevant to his discipline, to reflect operational feedback into new projects and UZ Field Development. Assists the hierarchy whenever so assigned to lead and guide CS team/s and supervise instrumentation, control & safety systems, communications, network and SCADA system maintenance activities ensuring that Control and SCADA systems are maintained safely / efficiently as per Business objectives KPI with high reliability and maximum availability.

Principal Accountabilities:
Organizes and leads technical review meetings, Hazops, SIL workshops, Root-cause analysis, Risk Analysis, etc and serves as a focal point between site and BU support groups in HQ to consolidate CS sections response and preparing reports.
Serves as the CS-Technical reference to review all Technical study reports, Project Reports, Documentation and drawings, Best initiatives, Facility Changes, etc. and provides the consolidated technical opinion for the section and as sites inputs for BU support groups
Reviews and provides extensive technical input on projects such as MOSAICS, GIP, GTP upgrade Project, etc. to ensure proper interfaces and compliances with Control and SCADA systems replacement project to ensure that all systems perform well in unison.
Prepares all Technical reports and periodic reports for section availing inputs from various sections and Maximo and discusses the same with team leader and submits his recommendations for improvements
Takes lead to investigate, analyze the cause of unwarranted and abnormal shutdown and prepare necessary reports, FCs, etc for remedial action to avoid disruptions to operations caused by Control and SCADA equipment.
As and when assigned by his hierarchy, plans, coordinates, supervises, and leads Instrument & Control system Maintenance & Project Support Teams to maintain all assigned systems in efficient running condition ensuring system availability for uninterrupted operation. Establishes clear work programs and objectives for the assigned engineers, supervisors and senior technicians and guides them to properly achieve these tasks and work plan.
Responsible to review and update all section activities on the action-tracking system and bring to the attention of Team Leader opportunities for improvement in systems availability and reliability. Reviews all PM/CM/Project and pending WOs to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with professional and Company standards to meet Business targets and plant / equipment integrity bench marks.
Coordinates with Operations / Maintenance to identify their requirements for the modification, replacement or enhancement of user interface and functionality.
Closely monitors performance of systems / subsystems under the responsibility of Control and SCADA sections and initiates studies to acquire proper replacements in case of shortcomings in subsystem / units / components and peripherals, more particularly in case of obsolescence.
Reviews PM/CM procedures related to all activities concerning Control and SCADA system, and ensures that they are up-to-date and accurate and followed scrupulously
Monitors validity of certificates for test equipment to ensure integrity of calibrations carried out by the CS team as part of on-going maintenance operations
Monitors all critical spare parts stock, consumables and alerts the CS-Team leader of pending obsolescence issues which may adversely affect the operations. Carries out necessary follow up with CMM, ZRLG and ITTN repair lab to ensure prompt availability of critical spares

Assists UZ-CS Team Leader in preparing for CS-sections annual budget, manpower plans, ensure that all Section expenditures are well within allocated Budget, preparing justification for any variations. Continuously monitors the expenses and raises the flag on major deviations
Assists UZ-CS Team Leader in providing OJT- On Job Training for UAE trainees Technicians as well as engineers and follows up on assessments to meet their training objectives.
Identifies, researches and proposes to CS Team leader, training requirements for all levels of personnel under the CS team to implement cross-training program among team members to realize the development of a multi-disciplinary / Technologically versatile team of personnel
Organizes, ensures and enhances the knowledge and participation of the CS team members in all HSE related activities such as NM reports, PTW Audits, house-keeping audits and Biweekly HSE meetings and promotes the team performance against assigned KPI for the section.

Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts):
Liaison / interaction with counterparts in other departments within Site for co-ordination.
Technical exchange of requirements and information with HQ support groups.

Independence of Operations and Decision-making Authority: 
Plans and determines work methods with established policies and professional standards. His team leader reviews his work.

Physical Effort: Minimal

Work Environment: 
Approximately 80% of the time is spent in an Air-conditioned environment. The remainder is spent exposed to prevailing weather conditions, dust and noise while on site.

Minimum Requirements:
B.Sc. in Electrical or Electronic or Instrumentation and control Engineering.
A minimum of Ten years experience in repair, calibration and maintenance of process control instrumentation and control systems as well as implementation of modern microprocessor and computer based equipments used in SCADA, DCS and PLC Systems, servers and data communication networks. Knowledge of IEC61131-3 languages preferably Relay Ladder Logic (RLL) and Functional Block Diagram (FBD) will be a distinct advantage.
Good level of competence with oil and gas industry equipments and standards.
Work experience in a similar environment in the Oil/Gas or Petrochemical industry of which at least 5 years must be in a supervisory level.
Good command of English language both written and spoken.
