Welding Quality Specialist for Arabian International Company, Saudi Arabia

Position: Welding Quality Specialist- Aerospace & Defense


Key Responsibilities:


1. Welding Inspection and Testing:

- Perform thorough inspections of welded joints and assemblies to ensure compliance with AWS standards and customer specifications.

- Conduct visual inspections, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and other required tests on welds.

- Review and verify welder qualifications, welding procedures, and welding consumables to

ensure they meet project requirements.


2. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

- Ensure all welding activities adhere to the applicable codes, standards, and project-specific requirements, particularly AWS standards.

- Develop and maintain inspection and test plans (ITPs) for welding processes.

- Ensure compliance with safety standards and practices during welding operations.


3. Documentation and Reporting:

- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records, including reports on weld quality, NDT results, and any non-conformances.

- Document and track welding non-conformances and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.

- Prepare final quality documentation packages for submission to clients, including welding logs, inspection records, and certifications.


4. Welding Process Oversight:

- Monitor and evaluate welding processes and techniques to ensure they meet the required

standards and specifications.

- Assist in the development and qualification of new welding procedures (PQR/WPS) as needed.

- Review and maintain WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and PQR (Procedure

Qualification Record) matrices.

- Work closely with production teams to resolve welding-related quality issues and provide technical support.


5. Training and Development:

- Provide guidance and training to welders and other personnel on welding quality

standards and best practices.

- Ensure all welders are certified according to project requirements and maintain their

certifications.


6. Coordination and Communication:

- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other QC personnel to ensure welding quality is maintained throughout the project.

- Liaise with clients, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies as required.

- Attend project meetings to discuss welding quality issues and provide updates on welding QC activities.


Qualifications:


- Certification: CSWIP Level 3 or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) AWS.

- Experience: 9 to 10 years of experience (Degree & Diploma), including 9+ years in the relevant scope of work in the Oil and Gas Industry.

- Experience in aerospace and defense welding is considered a plus.

- In-depth knowledge of various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, SMAW).

- In-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, CSWIP 3.2 or 3.3).

- Strong understanding of metallurgy as it applies to welding and material selection.

- Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in interpreting welding codes and standards.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and documentation.

- Technical Skills: Proficient in using welding inspection tools and equipment, as well as relevant software for documentation and reporting
