Network Engineer for Carifer Technologies in Garowe, Somalia

 Responsibilities:

• Design and implement network architectures for IoT smart meters, ensuring reliable connectivity to communication towers and software systems.
• Conduct installations of network equipment on communication towers, including antennas and devices, while adhering to safety standards.
• Collaborate with software development teams to integrate smart meter data with backend systems for seamless data flow.
• Perform testing of network connections and smart meter functionalities, documenting results and optimizing performance.
• Implement network monitoring tools to track performance and identify issues in real-time.
• Respond to network outages and incidents, performing root cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, installations, and changes.
• Provide regular reports on project status, network performance, and incident responses to management.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, software engineers, and field technicians.
• Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in IoT projects.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Familiarity with IoT platforms and smart meter technologies.
• Experience with wireless communication technologies (LoRa, LoraWAN, NB-IoT).
• Ability to climb towers and work at heights; safety certifications are a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with cloud platforms and IoT solutions is a plus.
• Knowledge of data encryption and cybersecurity principles is preferred
