Position: Wood Procurement & Logistics - Overseas


Location: Vietnam/Indonesia/Gabon



Key Responsibilities:


  • Procurement of Wood Materials:
    Manage the entire purchasing process for wooden logs, core veneer, and related materials, ensuring high-quality, timely, and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Supplier Identification & Relationship Management:
    Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value for the organization.
  • Exploration of New Sources:
    Continuously scout and explore new regions and sources for wood and veneer procurement, ensuring a diversified and reliable supply chain.
  • Loading & Logistics Coordination:
    Oversee the efficient loading and transportation of wooden logs and core veneer, ensuring safe handling and on-time delivery to the production facilities.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that all purchased materials meet the company's standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Market Research:
    Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and pricing fluctuations in the wood-based industry. Leverage this knowledge to make well-informed purchasing decisions.
  • Inventory Management:
    Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs. Maintain accurate records of purchases, stock levels, and supplier performance for operational efficiency.
  • Compliance & Sustainability:
    Ensure procurement activities comply with industry regulations and sustainability practices. Promote ethical sourcing and support environmental sustainability goals in line with the companys values.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Agroforestry, Wood Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    5 to 10 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within the wood, timber, veneer, or plywood industry.
  • Industry Expertise:
    Deep knowledge of wood-based products, including wooden logs and veneer, along with a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics in the wood industry.
  • Negotiation Skills:
    Strong negotiation abilities with a proven track record in managing supplier contracts and securing favorable pricing and terms.
  • Market Insight:
    Comprehensive understanding of market trends, key sourcing regions, and pricing strategies in the wood industry.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Exceptional attention to detail in overseeing quality checks, loading, and logistics operations to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
  • Analytical Thinking:
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address supply chain challenges and improve procurement processes.
  • Communication Skills:
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with suppliers, internal teams, and senior management.
