- Work closely with the project teams and marketing specialists to develop a quality control solution by identifying sample and analytical requirements.
- Translate requirements into a feasible analytical schedule to meet the overall quality standard.
- Lead a process to design the laboratory layout, equipment selection by considering cycle time, lead times and turnaround times.
- Work closely with the Quality Management team to ensure analytical equipment is correctly specified, selected and installed.
- Specify all supply and equipment requirements and participate in the service provider selection; Design the staffing requirements and outsourcing principles to operate and maintain the laboratory.
- Work closely with the technical teams to ensure the product handling facilities, analytical requirements and laboratory design are supportive of analytical requirements
- Ultimately manages all aspects of the laboratories, including administration of the safety and health policies. Ensures that the hourly and professional staff perform their work in a safe, environmentally responsible, and productive manner.
- Oversees all order fulfillment aspects of the laboratory, including management of a reliable specification system, accurate reporting of quality data to customers, and resolution of product quality issues with customers.
- Participates in customer visits and on-site quality audits, as required, to handle quality issues and demonstrate compliance with ISO standards. Coordinates with R&D, Customer Services and the Business Area. Assures product quality meets customer requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
- Ensures continuous improvement, timely review and recertification of laboratory procedures, ensuring all procedures are followed, thorough and documented training of employees, managing regular on-site customer quality audits, participating in internal quality audits, and timely implementation of needed corrective actions for all non-conformances.
- Assists Operations and Engineering in troubleshooting and solving problems and recommends adjustments, improves product quality and reduces operating costs.
- Will have to evolve Test Method Development.
- Calibration of Testing Instruments and have to interpret & approve test results.
- Establishes and maintains testing methods consistent with current state of the art technology and customer needs at the lowest practical cost
- Selects, trains, and develops a staff to maintain an effective operation.
- Tests and reports on environmental matters.
- Develops and administers Laboratory fixed cost and capital budgets
