Quality Control Chemist for Causmag International in Sydney, Australia

Causmag International is a subsidiary of Orind Australia Pty. Ltd. has been mining and manufacturing high grade magnesium oxide products for use in agriculture, animal health, industrial and pharmaceutical processes, for over 60 years. Causmag magnesium oxides are derived from high purity natural magnesites from our mining operations at Thuddungra near Young, NSW Australia. The magnesites are cryptocrystalline with small crystallite size high density and very high purity. Causmag magnesias are available in a wide range of particle size from granular to superfine powders. All products are packaged to the highest standards, providing maximum protection and positive grade identification



Role & responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain quality control systems, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all quality documentation is up-to-date and meets regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with internal and external standards.
  • To maintain Laboratory in a clean and presentable condition.
  • Collecting samples from the factory for testing and storing retention samples.
  • Preparing samples for requirements of new and prospective customers.
  • Testing samples to find out chemical and physical composition and reactive properties of raw material and processed material, and keeping proper records.
  • Ensuring strong quality control standards for products to meet customers requirements/demands, and testing reliability of outcome under different conditions.
  • Maintaining or supervising maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensuring regular servicing and calibration.
  • Collection and testing of dust samples every month for environmental compliance.
  • Collecting and testing dust samples from neighbourhood as and when required.
  • Develop products and processes to get consistent quality parameters with minimal costs.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the management from time to time.
  • Should be able to work and help different departments in the organisation if needed. Training will be provided.


Preferred candidate profile

  • Education in Chemistry or allied field or similar industry experience
  • Experience of 3-5 years in laboratory testing
  • Sound knowledge of wet chemistry analytical methods
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Must have knowledge of quality control systems (GMP/HAACP/FAMI QS)
