Role & responsibilities
Review project details Project Kick Off received from the Setting Out Manager
Preparation of the Project Drawings Schedule
Management of the Shop drawings preparation and submittal process
Checking materials allowed details and incorporating in shop drawings. Clarify discrepancies with Line Manager
Review specifications of project and obtain clearance for discrepancies between specs and estimated details
Identification of project material requirement and samples requirement
Identification and raising of RFIs to the Line Manager for communicating with the project manager for clarifying in a timely manner
Preparation of detailed and high-quality shop drawings. High quality detailing to take into consideration acceptable joinery practice and technique, consideration for wastage, coordinating with factory on efficient detailing when required
Taking into consideration site related parameters for access, assembly etc
Good Knowledge of materials, technical properties and parameters, density, mechanical properties, homogeneity, available sizes, thicknesses, seasonal lead times, other constraints etc
Sourcing of hardware accessories and optimizing where possible, raising material requisitions to procurement in a timely manner
Ensuring the timely project drawings approval process
Issuance to factory of cutting lists, loading lines, and effectively communicating this info with site installation teams when applicable
Coordination to carry out /obtain timely site surveys or agreeing alternative options for issuing the job with line manager if site surveys not possible such as oversizing and following an agreed setting out plan (usually the case on fast-track projects)
Raising job related material requisitions and follow up effectively for timely delivery with procurement department
Forward planning schedules and forecasts for cutting lists issuance to manufacturing
Preferred candidate profile
Minimum of 2 to 15 years similar experience of doing setting out and detailed shop drawings in a shop-fitting or joinery manufacturing company
Suitable experience in all aspects of joinery setting out from site survey, preparing manufacturing shop drawings, through to material take off and ordering, preparation of site working drawings and loading lines
Sound knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common shop-fitting materials including timber, boards, laminates, metal, hardware, and acrylics are vital
Well versed in Auto Cad 2004 and Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a multinational environment
Capability to do 3D drawings is an added advantage
