Own plant process designs, interface with other Engineering disciplines, support projects and proposals


Tasks and responsibilities
The process Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Provide inputs to the project and proposals teams with regard to all aspects of process engineering
• Review contract specification and request process design information If necessary
• Perform process simulations and develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Heat and Material balances
• Perform design optimisation in tandem with a cost benefit analysis incorporating capital and installation cost estimates.
• Carry out sizing calculations for process equipment and provide the information in the form of equipment data sheets.
• Prepare material selection designation for plant requirements
• Develop line sizes and hydraulic calculations such as pressure drop and Pump NPSH.
• Prepare P&IDs, valve lists, line lists, equipment lists and instrument lists
• Generate process control philosophies 
• Produce logic diagrams, cause and effect charts for power plant auxiliary systems such as firefighting, fuel supply etc.
• Review Design and sizing of safety relief valves, gas fuel ESDs
• Define mechanical design conditions for equipment and piping components
• Participate in HAZOP studies
• Review system operating manuals and commissioning plans
• Support site start-up and performance testing as required
• Verify subcontractor/supplier Process designs, documents and request information such as stream data etc. where applicable.
• Use creative and innovative conceptual designs to ensure proposals are cost competitive


Education and Experience
• BE or BSc in Chemical engineering or Mechanical engineering, though Chemical Engineering is preferred.
• 4-6 Years relevant design experience is required
• A good application of control & instrumentation is required
• Experience in process simulation is a must
• Experience in Oil & Gas or Gas Turbine Power plant projects is preferred.
• Experience with fuel supply systems or water treatment is preferred
• A good understanding of process safety requirements is preferred.

Skills:
• A strong working knowledge of process and flow simulators such as HYSYS, Pipeflow, PipeSim, Aspen Basic Engineering (ABE) or equivalents
• Intermediate to advanced level user of MS office platform with special emphasis on MS EXCEL
• Detail orientated
• Ability to analyse and solve problems
• Creative
• Effective at communicating process concepts to project teams, clients etc.
