Refit Coordinator

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Fluently speak, read and write English.
General knowledge of work performed by the various trades and the ability to direct and coordinate the efforts of trades such as sandblasting, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, painting, cement finishing, heating, air conditioning, and sheet metal services.
Marine Engineer / Naval Architect degree holder.
Fifteen (15) years ship building/repair experience essential, of which a minimum shall be ten (10) years supervisory experience in the areas of ship repair and conversion.
Possess good organizational skills.
Possess good Management skills - people and resources.
Possess basic working Knowledge of Windows applications including Microsoft Projects.

 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Manage ship repair projects.
Manage and coordinate works of other contractor.
Review and enforce contractor Loss Prevention program.
Ensure customer satisfaction.
Plans, schedules and assigns work via oral or written instructions to be accomplished on emergency/service, preventive maintenance, minor or specific jobs.
Resolves unforeseen technical and trade problems in the unit.
Ensures schedules are met, or reports reasons for non-compliance to immediate supervisor, possibly requiring a revision of estimate sub mittal.
Attends formal and informal meetings with immediate supervisor and planning personnel concerning ways and means of accomplishing the work projects, and where possible, improving efficiency.
Establishes and provides the necessary services to fulfill the operation needs, this includes assisting when and where necessary.
Instructs subordinates on difficult assignments, the proper use of tools, equipment, and new materials of the trade.
Motivates subordinates in areas of morale and completing jobs under adverse conditions, such as moving an employee from one job to another before completion and working on several jobs simultaneously.
Inspects and reviews the progress of jobs, complimenting and disapproving when and wherever necessary.
Hears and attempts to resolve grievances and complaints and cooperates in the investigation of formal or informal discrimination complaints ensuring expeditious action.
Maintains communication between different parties, coordinates the work with all parties involved, including operation personnel, management, planning personnel, utility personnel, and craftsman, and recommends overtime as needed.
Monitors cost of work being performed, specifies materials needed and arranges procurement.
Ensures schedules are met or reports non-compliance.
Directs and coordinates the work in areas such as structural and finish carpentry, electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, welding, painting, cement finishing, heating, air conditioning, sheet metal, masonry, and sign making work.
Interprets prints, prepares layouts, makes sketches, and recommends changes in methods and to work plans for cost reductions.

Shop/ Planner (Electrical & A/C)
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Knowledge of electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Knowledge of the procedures associated with preparing job orders and work packages.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, instructions, specifications and other related materials.
Ability to prepare work scope packages using computer software including EXCEL, ACCESS, WORD, MICROSOFT PROJECT and Windows NT. etc.
Plans and schedules work, reviews work orders, plans and estimates.
Discusses technical aspects of the work with subordinate painting electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration craftsmen.
Plans the assignment of work based on overall work status, priorities, employee performance and capabilities.
Communications ability, ability to supervise.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration trade practice
Ten (10) years varied shipyard experience in electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration trade with a minimum of three (3) years experience in planning, scheduling and tracking of shipyard work trades.
Fluently speak, read and write English.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

In addition to the Basic Requirements you will be responsible for analyzing work to be accomplished in the light of accepted trade practices, pertinent specifications, drawings, and sketches.

Prepares detailed plans specifications and cost estimates for the maintenance, construction, and alterations to vessels A/C, electrical, and communications distribution systems involving electrical power and light distribution systems, communications systems, generators, motors, transformers electrical control devices and instruments, wiring and similar equipment.

Determines amount and type of material needed. May on a regularly scheduled basis or on specific request, perform inspection on station electrical facilities including building wiring, electrical distribution systems, communication systems and other related electrical systems, structures and equipment.

The incumbent must be current and familiar with the National Electrical Code.

Prepares written reports of such inspections including extent of deficiency, major items of material required to correct them and the estimated cost including labor and material.

Prepares sketches and detailed working drawings as directed and where the work is complicated and requires further job description in addition to written work order.

Prepares specifications for facilities contracts and other contracts as directed and administers same, which includes direction and inspection of work performed by contractors.

Prepares specifications and shop sketches and drawings as required to facilitate accomplishment of work.
May as requested and/or directed assist other marine operating division where his experience and knowledge can be utilized in problem areas.

Shop Planner (Diesel Mechanic)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Knowledge of Diesel Mechanic trade practice.
Knowledge of the procedures associated with preparing job orders and work packages.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, instructions, specifications and other related materials.
Ability to prepare work scope packages using computer software including EXCEL, ACCESS, WORD, MICROSOFT PROJECT and Windows NT. etc.
Plans and schedules work, reviews work orders, plans and estimates.
Discusses technical aspects of the work with subordinate diesel mechanics.
Plans the assignment of work based on overall work status, priorities, employee performance and capabilities.
Communications ability, ability to supervise. 
Minimum of five (5) years experience in Diesel Mechanic trade associated with overhauling diesel engines, gear boxes, and pumps.
Ten (10) years varied shipyard experience in diesel mechanic trade with a minimum of three (3) years experience in planning, scheduling and tracking of shipyard work trades.

In addition to the Basic Requirements you will be responsible for accomplishing Diesel Mechanic planning functions in the shop and at the field on board marine vessels.
Makes sure material is efficiently procured.
Records are accurately maintained; coordinating the receipt and distribution of all maintenance orders and work instructions; assuring that maintenance orders are developed to perform the work within issued time frames.
Monitores shop commitments and making sure that job planning meets the needs of changing priorities and fluctuating workload; resolving problems and taking necessary corrective actions.
Keeps records and repair history.
Pre-planes and  prepare work scopes.
Expedites and correct material problems.
Resolving known material problems; filling out defective material reports and discrepancy reports, providing stock numbers, etc.
Provides work status information during the work process and after work packages have been issued.
Works closely with supervisors, workers and other planners to assist in meeting schedules established by the maintenance administration.


Planner/ Scheduler

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Fluently speak, read and write English.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the specified trade of practice.
Minimum of ten (10) years varied shipyard experience with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in planning, scheduling of the trade practice.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Employee should visit Vessels requesting services at field to determine needs; gather necessary information; and develop plans to complete the repair and/or refit.
Employee should possess the necessary knowledge and have varied hands on experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferably SAP.
Employee should be capable to interact with the CMMS to process Maintenance Notifications, Maintenance Orders, Purchase requisitions, Purchase Orders, Cost Analysis, Planning and Scheduling, etc.
Employee prepares specifications, scope of work, and material requirements. Alsoprepare shop and field drawings and/or sketches in conjunction with the Port Engineering unit.
Employee estimates labor and material requirements and determines an appropriate job sequence plan using a variety of estimating practices.
Employee prepares bill of materials for each refit, including description, quantity, specifications.
Employee prepares work and timetable schedules; monitor progress of refit/repair, conduct inspections, and report to unit supervisor.
Employee acts as an inspector for various maintenance and vessel refits.
Employee recommends priorities, and prepares justification.
Employee performs related duties as assigned.

A/C Equipment Mechanic

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Working Knowledge of refrigeration theory.
Knowledge of electricity sufficient to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical control systems.
Working knowledge of the designing and operation of centrifugal and reciprocal compressors.
Working knowledge of the design and operation of pneumatic control systems.
Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and to prescribe and perform repair procedures.
The ability to perform repairs and maintenance of equipment with
assorted hand and power tools.
Ability to read manuals, schematics, and diagrams. A basic understanding
of blueprints.
Skill in the use of tools and equipment utilized in the repair of air-conditioning systems.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in written form.
Ability to maintain and complete written reports, records, logs, requisitions, and
work orders.
Graduation from two-year technical school in air-conditioning and seven (7) years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard air-conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution, and control systems or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Troubleshoots and repairs chiller electrical control circuits.
Overhauls small reciprocal compressors.
Overhauls larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors under technical supervision.
Installs and repairs all types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Makes minor and major repairs.
Uses common hand tools and gauges, testing manifolds, adapter kit for seal units, and oxygen acetylene torch for silver brazing.
Repairs or replaces expansion valves, water valves, controls, motor pressure and electric condensers.
Cleans compressors, water and air-cooled; changes and cleans filters in air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
Services and maintains air conditioning equipment, up to and including 400 ton units.
Checks accuracy and calibrates electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems.
Troubleshoots control circuits and replaces faulty thermostats, wiring, and control devices.
Performs preventive maintenance on air-conditioning and air handling equipment.
Installs air-conditioning units, wires controls, and builds and installs duct work and chilled water piping.
Adjusts chillers and balances distribution systems to achieve maximum energy efficiency.
Removes and replaces joints or lengths of pipe in chilled water distribution systems.
Performs related duties as required.

Marine Mechanic

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Knowledge of the techniques and methods used to determine and solve mechanical problems.
Completion of grammar school and one year of progressive experience in the repair of engines and mechanical equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of the operating principles of reduction gears, hydraulic, air, and electric control systems; and vacuum and pressure pumps.
Ability to determine the cause of, and procedures to follow in repairing malfunctioning equipment.
Physical strength to move heavy objects and perform manual labor for considerable periods of time.
Completion of grammar school and three years of progressive experience in the repair of gearboxes, transmissions, hydraulic, air systems, and components, preferably in the ship repair or shipbuilding industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:  
Repairs hydraulic and other control devices.
Overhaul of diesel and gasoline engines and rebuilds components.
Maintains records of work performed.
Repairs, overhaul and adjusts hydraulic control valves, hydraulic pumps and motors.
Repairs, overhaul and adjusts reduction gears, clutches, and couplings.
Replaces propeller shafts and bearings, and aligns to the engines.
Repairs and overhauls air compressors.
Repair and overhaul pneumatic and hydraulic systems and controls.
Repairs and rebuildconventional, conventional CPP, Azimuth, and Voith-Schnider propulsion units.
Performs related duties as required.

Diesel Mechanic
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
Ability to repair and overhaul CAT 3516 and 3608 diesel engines and associated equipment.
Working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel and gasoline engines; reduction gears, hydraulic, air, and electric control systems; and vacuum and pressure pumps.
Ability to determine the cause of, and procedures to follow in repairing malfunctioning equipment.
Advanced knowledge of the principles, concepts, theories and operational parameters of vessels mechanical equipment and systems including diesel and gasoline engines, drive trains, transmissions, reduction gearboxes, brakes, and steering.
Ability to read and comprehend technical repair manuals, wiring, fuel systems and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams and troubleshooting instructions.
Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams and manuals pertinent to the maintenance and repair of the various types of marine equipment
Ability to perform field troubleshooting analysis and report findings.
Graduation from a two-year technical college with an Associates Degree in Engine  Technology and a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic, air, and electric systems, and components, preferably in the ship repair or shipbuilding industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices used in marine maintenance work.
Thorough knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of the various types of marine engines, component parts and all related mechanical equipment.

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Performs skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work on marine vessels.
Performs skilled mechanical work on marine vessels up to 2500 horsepower.
Repairs and overhauls diesel engines, which involves the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of valves, pistons, rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, camshaft, bearings, timing gears and chains, valve mechanisms, injectors, and pumps.
Repairs and adjusts reduction gears, clutches, and couplings.
Synchronize and adjusts diesel engines timing and fuel injection system.
Repairs and overhauls fire pumps, bilge pumps, and hydraulic pumps.
Repairs starters, and throttle control systems.
Tests, adjusts, and repairs fuel injection pumps.
Repairs and rebuilds gasoline engines, air cooled and outboard motors.
Maintains records of all work performed.
Performs related duties as required.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair failures in engine and transmission controls.
Use a wide variety of equipment manuals and manufacturer bulletins in addition to instrumentation and software guidelines and instructions. Employees also act as the liaison between the shop/region and the equipment manufacturer in order to resolve unusual and undocumented problems.
Repairs and overhaul two-cycle and four-cycle engines, diesel propulsion engines, fuel systems, lubricating systems, and related diesel engine components.
Disassembles repairs, rebuilds and reassembles marine transmissions, reduction gears, manual and hydraulic clutches; aligns shafts, struts and shaft logs.
Conducts test runs after completing major repairs and modifications and makes adjustments to the repaired equipment during and after the test runs.
Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work.
