The Chemistry Department at the Institute enjoys two roles within the university. Firstly, it is responsible for teaching all chemistry courses as a service to the degree-granting departments in Engineering and Geosciences. In this respect, chemistry faculty members teach undergraduate courses in General, Organic and Physical Chemistry. The second contribution of the department to the PI is through offering a M.Sc. program in Applied Chemistry, with an emphasis on the energy sector, and more specifically that of oil and gas. Chemistry faculty members contribute to this program through teaching in their area of specialization, as well as through their research which is carried out with graduate students as an integral part of their M.Sc. program.

The Institute in Abu Dhabi invites applications for a position in Chemistry at the Assistant Professor level. The new appointee will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level as well as develop and teach graduate level (M.Sc.) courses in their area of specialty. The appointee will develop a research program in an area that is relevant to the needs of the energy area, and in particular the oil and gas sectors, and that will provide opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate student participation.
