Our client is currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Safety Engineer who will be responsible for establishing, managing and monitoring compliance with company and local safety regulations for the construction phase of the project, including the safety of project staff. 

    Key Responsibilities: 
    Ensuring that Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) resources are managed in the best continuing interests of the company.
    Responding to unforeseen circumstances and taking appropriate action.
    Providing advice, guidance, and support to all personnel including Directors, Managers, Supervisors and engineers at all levels on all matters relating to Safety, Health and Environment in the workplace.
    Implementing the strategy for Safety, Health and Environmental compliance in all locations in the region.
    Setting realistic objectives, goals and targets while enrolling all personnel into the process.
    Maintaining a culture that allows all individuals and teams to provide positive input into Safety, Health and Environment in their workplace.
    Developing and maintaining excellent communications with all levels of staff providing advice, guidance, support and management assistance in a timely and quality manner.
    Engaging in active personal development while assisting project resources in their individual development. Communicating effectively with external colleagues (Health & Safety and Environment Authorities, Local National and International Authorities, Clients representatives, Contractors etc ensuring a coordinated and compliant approach to Safety, Health and Environmental management.
    Monitoring policies, procedures, programs, standards, and design criteria affecting construction safety on multiple projects.
    Demonstrating a professional integrity and personal pride in producing excellent results. Interacting freely and effectively with all people, both internal and external to the company.
    Working as a team player generating a professional and productive atmosphere.
    Determining cause of unsafe acts and conditions through procedure review, equipment and facilities inspection, and worker observation with corrective action recommendations provided.
    Participating in the investigation of site accidents and incidents.
    Managing, developing and delivering SH&E Training for the Project Staff. Collecting and analyzing injury and safety survey statistical data and writing technical reports. Maintaining compliance with governmental regulatory agencies.

    *Minimum Requirements
    A minimum of 20 + years of overall experience required post Degree. A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience and qualification in Safety at major highway projects is required. He must possess excellent working knowledge of industry practices/safety/quality management systems.

    Specific Skills Required:
    Up to date knowledge of all issues relating to Safety, Health and Environment in the Middle East.
    Ability to communicate in a practical and commercial manner at all levels of the organisation.
    Extensive knowledge of design, consultancy, construction, PMCM practices and how they interact across business lines.
    Ability to innovatively plan ahead for future development of Safety, Health and Environment within the Business.
    Ability to manage and oversee a team of project safety resources.
    Ability to participate in meetings with people at all levels of management both internally and externally.
    Ability to design develop and deliver training for all staff within the project.
    Flexibility to work on a 48hour/6 day per week schedule.

    *Preferred Qualifications
    The ideal candidate should have a Degree in Occupational Safety or in a related field plus a designation of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) / Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) or (NEBOSH) The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health or working towards this.
