- This role involves managing activities to design, develop, enhance and implement IT application solutions to achieve business user and IT service requirements within defined timescales.
- You will spend the majority of your time work with a team of designers and developers to deliver IT application development projects.
- You will be able to combine your technical skills and knowledge and experience to ensure the timely delivery of high quality, cost-effective IT applications solutions to the business.
- You are expected to ensure compliance with the internal SDLC, and will be responsible for the functional quality of the deliverable.
- Working with a team of high caliber, technically proficient IT application designers and developers to ensure the design, development, enhancement and implementation of the Progress Open Edge 10 IT application to agreed timescales and technical specifications.
- Facilitating the day to day working relationships with IT Service Management and IT Infrastructure Development colleagues, to ensure best use of resources, effective integration and seamless service to the end user.
- Analyzing and suggesting alternatives, ideas, and approaches that will improve the quality of success of IT development programs or projects related to the Progress Open Edge 10 application.
- Working with business representatives and users, and a variety of IT colleagues, to identify and understand their detailed IT solution requirements.
- Conducting evaluation of business processes and activities to identify detailed requirements, escalating process issues and improvement opportunities to process improvement colleagues.
- Identifying, producing and reviewing functional specifications for the Progress Open Edge 10 IT application.
- Participating in joint business and IT design sessions by contributing business and/or systems knowledge to enable tailored IT solutions.
- Supporting the development of business cases for the implementation of new or enhanced IT services and solutions.
- Proactively developing and maintaining a current and accurate knowledge of relevant business application solutions to provide effective support to the business.
- Excellent working knowledge of Progress database
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Open Edge 10 application development environment
- Comfortable with coding development
- Experience with full SDLC implementations
- Experience in working with legacy platforms
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience with policy administration systems and / or insurance an advantage
