This position is responsible for inspecting and monitoring the work of contractors on SQNB construction site. These works include Site Preparation and Grading, Earthmoving, Storm Water Channels.
Candidate should be knowledgeable in concrete and soils testing, ASTM standards, as well as construction site surveying.
Additional certifications in concrete and soil testing a plus. Candidate should be familiar with civil engineering design drawings in the areas of topographical, cut/fill, and storm drainage systems and must ensure that work is in compliance with specifications and environmental regulations.
Monitoring all site construction and inspection work when required or instructed by the Resident Engineer
Assisting to identify, respond to or evaluate field construction technical issues to maintain the schedule
Providing documentation relating to changes in contract work
Reviewing and supervising contractor daily and weekly inspection reports
Assist on the preparation of payment certificates
Ensure a Work Standard is used for the type of job performed and use same to give the estimated work duration to the user department.
Report daily work progress of the works, against the Work Standard and explain exceptions.
Critique and report job completion defining problem areas with recommendations for improvement.
Monitor and Report work as per the Inspection Standards to ensure that correct procedures are followed and that questionable findings are highlighted.
Recommend areas for development of the individual and comment on strengths, which can be utilized to improve job times.
Knowledge of methods, techniques, equipment, special tools, and devices necessary for performance of the works in order to propose improvements.
Take appropriate safety precautions
Inspect and test using closed circuit television, still photography, and testing equipment.
Take test samples or photographs to assess the condition of works/ structures.
Carry out non-destructive testing, such as tests for cracks.
